Dr. Joy L. Marshall

Graduate of the Texas A&M University College Station with her undergraduate degree in biology. She received her Masters from the University of Houston and her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Houston.

Dr. Joy Marshall, a recent addition to the PVAMU Biology faculty is one of two new Microbiology professors. She is currently working along with Dr. Seab Smith as co-advisor of the award winning Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society. This past summer Dr. Marshall traveled to Grand Junction, CO to participate in the National Conference.

This summer Dr. Marshall performed research in the laboratory of Dr. Kendal D. Hirschi, Baylor College of Medicine/ Children’s Nutrition Research Center (Houston, TX). The overall focus of the laboratory is to study the CAX proteins, which are H+/cation antiporters
Dr. Corey Turner

Graduate of PVAMU Biology Department with an undergraduate degree in Biology and received both his Masters and Ph.D. from Meharry Medical College.

Dr. Turner is the second of two new additions to the PVAMU Biology Faculty. He serves as a professor of Microbiology and Immunology. He is currently working along with Tri-Beta as a faculty mentor.

Dr. Turner spent his postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine, Meharry Medical College where he studied and researched the survival of and Apoptosis of Limulus polyphemus Brain Tissue.
Dr. Deirdre Vaden

Graduate of PVAMU Biology Department with an undergraduate degree in Biology and Wayne State.

Dr. Vaden, a former biology student, is currently instructing the General Biology courses along with a Biological research course. In the upcoming semester she will instruct the Genetics course, which presently is offered only during the Fall semesters.

Dr. Vaden has done her postdoctoral studies over seas and is currently getting funding to conduct research in our department, which will add more graduate opportunities for the matriculating biology students.
