Option 2 - One Year Internship
 
OPTIONS 1, 2, AND 3 REQUIRE admission to the Graduate School, admission to the Teacher Education program in the College of Education, 9 hours of prerequisite undergraduate courses, and 12 hours of graduate Curriculum and Instruction (CUIN) courses.
 
 
Option 2 requires a one year internship, an internship fee, and 60 content area observation hours in a secondary classroom.  All course work requirements must be completed before candidates can register for the one year internship.
 
Students must register for 6 hours (fall and spring semesters) through the Teacher Education Program.
Fall
CUIN 5043 Post-Baccalaureate Internship: Phase I
 
Spring
CUIN 5053 Post-Baccalaureate Internship: Phase II
Subject Area Observation Hours Requirements
60 observation hours in the secondary classroom
Observation hours must be iin discipline area seeking certification
Observation hours must be completed before candidates can complete the internship or student teaching
No courses may be taken until the student has been admitted to the Graduate School.
 
For admission to the Teacher Education Program, candidates must fulfill the following requirements.

      Must be admitted to the Graduate School;
      Must have passing scores on the TASP - Reading 260, Writing 220, Math 230;
      Must complete and submit the Teacher Education Admission Packet;
      Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA

The Nine Prerequiste Undergraduate Courses must be in these areas.

      Computer Education (3 hours)
      Speech Communication (3 hours)
      Reading Methods (3 hours)

Twelve Hours of Curriculum and Instruction (CUIN) Courses
 
       Fall Semester or Summer I

      CUIN 5003 Foundations of Secondary Schools
      CUIN 5013 Developmental Characteristics of Secondary School Youth
 
       Spring Semester or Summer II
 
       CUIN 5023 Strategies for Planning and Assessing Instruction
       CUIN 5033 Research-Based Methods for Classroom Instruction and Management
